FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Not what, Who? We are Coffs Coast Aerial Drone Services, because its a bit of a mouth full we often refer to ourselves as CCADS.

We get asked this a lot and without going into too much detail along with the history associated with the acronyms, simply put.

UAV – Unmanned Aerial Vehicle. A drone or any other aerial craft that can be unmanned.

RPAS – Remotely Piloted Aircraft System. Is generally inclusive of the payload the RPA is carrying.

RPA – Remote Piloted Aircraft. This acronym is used by most in the industry in describing the aircraft itself.

Each operation/project will vary in duration, location, equipment and operators required. You will find a pricing guide HERE or you may wish to speak directly to us to find out more.

Yes, we are more then happy to quote each job based on its location, degree of difficulty, duration, equipment needed and operators required. This is a “no obligation free” service.

Our fleet are not water proof or designed to be flown in the rain. Our Matrice 200 V2 has ingress protection with a rating of IP43 so very light damp conditions will not hinder it’s operations. In general however, we can always reschedule or find a solution. If your job is required on a particular date only, any deposit paid will be refunded.

Yes all our drones are registered. This is a requirement by CASA. If you fly a remotely piloted aircraft (RPA), for business or use one as part of your job, you MUST register it before you fly.

A free service that is provided by us is the use of our Client Cloud Link (CCL). The CCL is a secure portal that can be accessed by any web browser or any device for convenience and ease. You will be provided with a username and password once your project is confirmed. You can take a look at the portal HERE

We will need to submit for approval to the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) to

  • Fly more than 400 feet (120 metres) above the ground.
  • Fly within 5.5 km of any towered airport.
  • Fly in the landing or take-off zones of any airport.
  • Fly beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS).
  • Fly over crowds.

The applications are very complex and will need to include additional redundancies and extra safety components added to the operations. There are fees involved and there is no guarantee that an application will be approved. So be sure to speak to us first to get a clear understanding of what is required.

Yes, and bank transfer with prior agreement. You will receive a tax invoice with our ABN and business details along with how to pay.
